Trekking spot MALSHEJ ghat ( Its a MANSOON TIME GUYS ) !!

near the city of Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra, India. The site is nestled in the lofty rugged hills of the Western Ghats. The best time to visit is between August and September. At this time of the year, the hills are clothed in a soothing shade of mint green and the weather is cool due to the monsoons. Known for its misty tops and ice cold cascades at this time of the year, the site is a very popular weekend getaway for most of the city's residents at that time of the year.




If you want to experience Nature at her prettiest, the hill station town of Malshej Ghat is a great place. Beautiful waterfalls, verdant green hillsides, interesting rock formations – the hill station of Malshej Ghat has all of this. Adding to the scenic vistas in Malshej Ghat are the flamboyant flamingoes, which come here between July and September all the way here from Europe.



Malshej Ghat is particularly beautiful during the monsoons when the falls become more tempestuous and the rain freshens everything in sight. If you are brave enough, get under some of the waterfalls – the spray will definitely revive you. Trek into the forest surrounding the hill station of Malshej Ghat– the tall stately trees a wonderful sight to behold.

Getting There

Drive to Malshej Ghat from Mumbai via Thane, Kalyan, Saralgaon and Vaishakhare. The nearest airport is Mumbai (150 km)and the nearest railhead is Kalyan (86 km -1 ½ hrs ), from where you can catch a bus to Malshej Ghat.
