Agricultural Universities in India

As Agriculture performs a really important role in the Indian Economic system, establishing of adequate number of Agricultural Universities were regarded as really important in India. As the Royal Commission, set up in 1926, emphasized the great importance of a strong study platform for agricultural improvement in India, the second National Education Commission (1964-66) headed by the then University Grants Commission rate Chairman Dr. D. S Kothari suggested the establishment of a minumum of one Agricultural University in each one of the Indian state.

Importance of Agricultural Universities

The value of Agricultural Universities have improved tremendously in the current years as the growth of the agricultural industry has seen a sharp decrease for over a 10 years now. It has not been qualified to keep pace with the other areas of the Indian economy even though approximately 60% workforce is active with agriculture in India.

The factor of agriculture to the Gross National Product (GDP) of the county's economy has been under 25% in the current years. At such a juncture, people included with Agricultural Universities and other analysis institutions may have to get innovative ideas for dealing with the challenges that the sector is now facing.

There are actually at present 45 Agricultural Universities in India. Using these five are
