Tamil Nadu Minister for Environment N Mariam Pitchai was killed in a road accident near Trichy. He was coming to Chennai to take oath as MLA when the accident took place


Mariam Pichai car was killed at the spot after hitting a container lorry. The lorry and driver is yet to be traced. Sports Minister Sivapathi who was travelling in another car along with Mariyam Pichai informed the police about the accident


60 year old MLA defeated former TN Minister Nehru in the recent assembly election. Tamilnadu Chief Minister is heading towards Trichy by helicopter to pay homage to the departed Minister. Shops in Trichy were closed. Police is deployed to prevent any untoward incident.

Bhutan's 31-year-old monarch, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, livened up the new session of the Bhutanese Parliament, which opened Friday, by announcing that he would get married in less than six months.

"As king, it is now time for me to marry," he announced at the end of his address to Parliament, according to Bhutan's official newspaper Kuensel. "After much thought, I have decided that the wedding shall be later this year." This came as a relief for many in Bhutan—where the royal family is revered—who were worried that the king had not yet married at his age.
