About Us
Anna University was established on 4.9.1978, as a unique university. It offers higher education in engineering, technology and related sciences to meet current and future society.Besides to support research and dissemination of information out there, promotes cooperation between universities and industry, the university was created by combining and integrating two well-known technical institutions in Chennai.
- Engineering Guindy (CEG) (1794)
- Madras Institute of Technology, Chrompet (MIT) (1949), and three units of the University of Madras.
- Alagappa College of Technology (ACT) (1944)
- College of Applied Arts, Architecture Planning IN (SAP) (1957)
Located in the southern city of Chennai (Madras), the University's main campus covers 100 acres near the Adyar River in the north and Raj Bhavan in the south. Institute of Technology, Madras, Chrompet's second campus, which covers 20 hectares. Both universities have different requirements in different buildings of the university community. The third campus is spread over 80 acres located in Instronics Tara Mani, Adyar. Biotechnology Laboratory donated Spic currently located in that area and several colleges at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (Nifty), Sugar Research Institute, Mechatronics Institute for Entrepreneurship Development Park & Conference Center is installed in the future.
